NFL Week #4
Essential Practice Notes from Wednesday
 09-26-2007

---

KC star RB Larry Johnson (hamstring) did not practice with the team on Wednesday. Coach Edwards said Johnson had a sore hamstring and he didn’t work today. “I’m not concerned. He’s just sore. He should be okay. He missed that time, came back and now he’s sore. That’s just part of it.”
---

WR Eddie Kennison (hamstring) got some work in Wednesday but for now, it sounds like he’s still a week away.
---

WR Javon Walker skipped Wednesday’s practice due to inflammation in his right knee. That is the same knee he had surgery on two years ago. Word is Walker should be okay for Week #4 and he was rested Wednesday more as a precaution.
---

Starting QB Jay Cutler was able to take a full practice Wednesday. His ankle seems to be okay after injuring it Sunday against the Jaguars.
---

Backup RB/FB Mike Bell (headache) missed practice on Wednesday.
---

QB Jake Delhomme (strained right elbow) was unable to practice Wednesday. He’s iffy for Sunday's game against Tampa Bay. Delhomme had treatments on his arm today and said he still hopes to play Sunday.
---

Browns TE Kellen Winslow (shoulder) did not practice Wednesday due to a "pretty sore," shoulder according to Coach Crennel. "We have to work on that, try to get that soreness out and get his strength back." Look for Winslow to try and get back on the field on Friday.
---

Cleveland backup WR Tim Carter (knee) sat out practice Wednesday.
---

On the plus side for the Browns, LB Willie McGinest (back) participated in his first practice today since having back surgery in early August.
---

On Wednesday WR Anquan Boldin (hip) was rested and did not take part in team drills. Boldin said he was going to be fine earlier this week so we look for him to get back to practice soon.
---

Lions backup RB T.J. Duckett (ankle) missed practice due to injury Wednesday. He remains someone you should not count on.
---

Lions rookie stud WR Calvin Johnson (back) did not practice on Wednesday. He starts the week out very iffy. He’s day-to-day.
---

Packers TE Bubba Franks (knee) did not practice on Wednesday.
---

The Packers WR Donald Driver (toe) was given some rest Wednesday.
---

QB Brett Favre (right finger) did some work Wednesday but was also given reps off.
---

WR Greg Jennings (hamstring) was given some time to rest Wednesday.
---

RB Vernand Morency (knee) still is not taking part in full team reps but he did some work Wednesday.
---

Vikings QB Tarvaris Jackson (groin) was limited Wednesday. Coach Childress said today that Jackson has come a long way since last Monday, and he threw some balls today.
---

Head Coach Brad Childress didn’t sound that concerned or positive about RB Chester Taylor (hip) being able to play this week. Taylor did some work Wed. but also was held out of reps too.
---

WR Troy Williamson (hamstring) was limited at Wednesday’s practice.
---

It’s been a while but Vikings FB/RB Tony Richardson (forearm) was finally able to take a full team practice Wednesday.
---

Texans WR Jerome Mathis (foot) got some reps in Wednesday but the team also pulled him so he could rest some Wednesday. Word is he will be fine.
---

RB Ahman Green (knee) did not practice Wednesday. Coach Gary Kubiak said he’s “day-to-day.” Coach also said, “I think it’s significant that we get him (Green) healthy. The key is that Ronnie (Dayne) is back and ready to go. And Samkon (Gado) is going to be better this week… If Ahman steps on that field Sunday, that’s a bonus for our team.”
---

Both WR Jacoby Jones (shoulder) and WR Andre Johnson (knee) did not practice Wed. Don’t count on Johnson this week.
---

Falcons Backup TE Dwayne Blakley (pectoral) was unable to get any work in today.
---

The Jets gave WR Jerricho Cotchery (shoulder) and QB Chad Pennington (ankle) some time to rest today.
---

RB Thomas Jones (calf) had another day of full practice Wednesday and seems to be just about 100% now.
---

As fully expected, QB J.P. Losman (knee) did not practice Wednesday and is not expected to play in Week #4. It’s unclear why the team did not rule Losman out today.
---

Raiders QB Josh McCown (foot) did not go today and is iffy for Week #4. Don’t count on him playing this week against Miami.
---

TE Matt Spaeth (quadricep) did not practice on Wednesday.
---

Steelers WR Hines Ward (knee) was held out of practice Wednesday.
---

Rams RB Steven Jackson (groin) was unable to practice Wednesday and as we have been saying all along, we look for him to be out 2+ weeks.
---

Despite his sore ribs, Marc Bulger took a full practice on Wednesday.
---

As is customary, the Bucs gave WR Joey Galloway (team decision) some time off Wednesday.
---

Bucs WR Ike Hilliard (ankle) was able to work today.
---

The Eagles have already ruled TE L.J. Smith (groin) out for Week #4. Word from Philly is the team is not happy with Smith.
---

No shock here, the Eagles gave RB Brian Westbrook (abdomen) time to rest Wednesday. He’s day-to-day and Coach Reid used the word "improving."
---

WR Plaxico Burress (ankle) did not practice WED. He was in NC to see Dr. Robert Anderson. His ankle is still nagging him and it’s been that way since early August.
---

RB Brandon Jacobs is improving but is still a week or two away.
---

The Giants RB Derrick Ward (sore ankle) did not practice Wednesday. But Ward says, “I’ll be good. I know my body. I know I’ll be able to play the whole game if they need me to on Sunday.”
---

Despite getting a little banged up last week, TE Todd Heap (calf) was able to practice today for Baltimore.
---

Ravens WR Mark Clayton (calf) was limited at Wed team practice.
---

Ravens #3 WR Demetrius Williams (heel) was limited at Wednesday team drills.
---

Baltimore veteran WR Derrick Mason (back) was able to practice Wednesday without reported issues. Mason has been getting plenty of balls thrown his way so far this season.
---

Starting QB Steve McNair (groin) was able to practice on Wednesday.
---

The big news in Chicago is at QB. Rex Grossman’s streak of 19 straight regular season starts will end Sunday when the Bears visit the Detroit Lions. Coach Lovie Smith made it official Wednesday, anointing Brian Griese as the team’s No. 1 quarterback. Lions DC Joe Barry said, “Brian hasn’t started since 2005 but he’s not the type of guy who’s going to be rattled.”
---

Bears backup RB Adrian Peterson (calf) was limited in practice Wednesday.
